Ah, it is fall, it is fall (the leaves are fAlling everywhere)..

OK..

So I didn't get to the Boston Veggie Fest, or to hear the reading in JP of EE Cummings (one of my favorite poets)...but I DID indeed take some pictures of the lovely scenery that has been entering my mind....

Also, I saw "Things we lost in the fire"....I'm sorry but how amazing (and beautiful) is Benicio? Is it just me and my love of men a little rough around the edges??? Amazing movie.

In the future- Damien Rice, Sinead O'connor, and CAKE will be headed to the Orpheum.

Enjoy the sun tomorrow as we may not see it for a while for all of us with SAD.

Another day...another fair..

So, yesterday (that would be 9-16-07) I ventured to the Start on the street fair with my mother in lovely Worcester, MA. Basically the event was sponsored by Craft magazine- need I say more??

Arriving as one of the first 400 visitors, my mother and I were greeting with a Newbury Comics bag stuffed with goodies from the fair...glass bead magnets, a FREE craft magazine, coupons from vendors at the show and more...

There were about 240 vendors selling anything from hand-made fashion (clothes, scarves, purses, recycled vintage clothes), photography, silkscreen, cards, soap, paintings...and more.

I purchased a lovely pin cushion for my mother and I..(see I do plan to sew..:)) from Elizabeth Brennick. She was a valuable source of information and made everything from pin cushions, wallets, baby items and clothing..so check her out...www.elizabethbrennickdesigns.com or at www.elizabethbrennick.etsy.com She donates part of her profits to children with cancer and she is really super nice.

I also purchased a lovely painting from a new artist named Rachel Lochner- It was her first show...and I purchased a pair of earrings made out of old computer parts from a fellow who does blacksmithing named Joshua Swalec (of Ferromorphics)...very cool.

So this brings me to the special section for you all....

Cheese Grits and more to come!!

Ok, so I am working somewhere and apologize that I have not been able to post, I have lots of ideas and can't wait to share them. My next post will explore thrift stores in the area...be prepared and excited...it WILL be worth it..

BUT, I did want to share a little something special for all of you soul food lovers out there...

Last night, I made something decident...

CHEESE GRITS with Cauliflower

OK the recipe is
2 cups of milk (the wholer the better, I'm sure)
2 cups of water
4 ounces of Cheddar (or basically any cheese you fancy really..)
1 cup of corn meal
1/2 tsp of pepper
1 and 1/2 tsp salt
4 tablespoons of butter
and add a veggie ( I added a head of cauliflower)

bring the milk and water and salt to a boil (add veggie if you have one)
slowly add the corn meal
once all the corn meal has been added, lower the heat and whisk mixture every 3-4 minutes for 20-25 minutes (REMOVE FROM THE HEAT)
at the end of this time, add the butter until melted.
add the pepper
slowly add the cheese

Serve pretty much immediately...

More to come my friends

Vintage and Textile Show

So, today I ventured to the lovely town of Sturbridge, MA with a new partner in crime...

Here is what I learned:
1.) Always think before making purchases over $5. If the item is not there when you return..it was not meant to be yours to begin with...(although I really could have used that beautiful coat..I will sleep better knowing it simply would not have kept me warm).
2.) When you see something that promotes a project, write it down, or if it is reasonably priced, JUST buy it!!!
3.) Always keep a pen and scratchpad handly to write down all of the things you are thinking...
4.) When attending a show of this nature, bring a companion who has the same interest in the general idea. It makes such a wonderful difference to be able to marvel in the little joys!! Thank you Dawn!!!
